What is a gearbox control housing?
The control housing is the upper section of a manual gearbox containing the gear selection mechanism, selector rods and forks. It bolts to the main gearbox casing and is sealed by a gasket. Leaks from the control housing joint are a common source of gearbox oil loss and require the housing to be removed and resealed.
When would I need a control housing gasket kit?
When removing the control housing for any reason, including oil leak repair, selector mechanism servicing or gear selection faults, the housing gasket should be replaced as a matter of course. A gasket kit provides all the seals and gaskets needed to reseal the housing correctly after refitting.
